Due to unforeseen events, I have had the pleasure of getting to know and befriend Dr. Young. As our friendship has grown, it has become obvious that he has the heart of a servant and a deep care of others. In his book, Fight or Flight, Dr. Young does a phenomenal job of depicting his perspective as a negotiator, crisis counselor, and comforter in the hardest times of peoples' lives. Fight or Flight touches on the tragic events that people face and the great impact these events have on the lives of many. The book dives in to the emotional and psychological stress that an individual encounters after a tragedy, but also reveals the often missed perspective of the pain that counselors and first responders must endure alongside those individuals. The book continues with Dr. Young reflecting on what makes his job fulfilling, and encourages the reader to pursue his/her calling to the greatest of their ability.
